6 MISTAKES YOU MAKE WHEN CLEANING YOUR FACE!
“unforgivable” one, like a wrong product, experts have concluded that
these are the most common mistakes you can make when it comes to washing
and cleansing the face! Hands – Up – Which of these do you find
yourself… guilty of?
Mistake # 1: Using too hot water
Mechanical exfoliation with scrubs can actually give us a glowing complexion, however excessive exfoliation can actually cause damage to the outer layer of the skin.
This usually translates into red and inflamed skin that pulls, dull skin and a skin barrier at risk for irritation and acne breakouts. Make sure you use an extremely gentle & specialized scrub and no more than 1, at most 2 times a week.
This mistake is especially common for you who wear makeup. Incomplete removal of makeup and other contaminants that accumulate throughout the day, can adversely affect your skin by clogging the pores. Try double cleansing, that can help you ensure that you remove any particles from your face!
- Start with a cleansing balm and then cleanse again with a foam cleanser so you are sure to leave the skin hydrated, balanced and completely clean.
- Another option is to use a micellar cleanser that looks like water

Excessive washing of your face damages the natural protective barrier. This, in turn, affects how sensitive your skin is to the environment, how effectively it retains moisture, and ultimately how quickly the early signs of aging appear over time.
As a general rule, it is recommended that you wash your face no more than twice a day – once in the morning and once in the evening. If you exercise or are very active during the day a micellar water or a very mild soap is quite good.
This mistake is … unforgivable for you who deal reverently with your skin care! So we will say again that when you use a product that is not intended for your skin type, you start your whole routine wrong!
For example, facial cleansers designed for acne and oily skin tend to be a bit more aggressive than those intended for dry or reactive skin.
The toners in your cleansing routine have a very specific reason of existence.
- shrink the appearance of pores
- tighten the skin
- soothe the skin
- reduce inflammation
- provide antibacterial benefits so help with pimples & acne
- cool and freshen up
So prefer an astringent lotion, with alcohol or acids only if your skin is oily or with acne and a milder one, with emollient properties if you have drier or more sensitive skin.
